This policy sets out the conditions under which Bougie d’Or accepts returns and processes refunds. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms below. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 are not affected.

2. Your Right to Cancel (UK & EU Customers)
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, UK and EU customers have the right to cancel an order within 14 days of receiving their goods, without giving a reason. To exercise this right, you must notify us before the 14-day period expires.
Once we have confirmed your cancellation, you must return the item(s) within 14 days. A refund of the product price will be issued within 14 working days of receiving the returned goods. Original delivery charges are non-refundable unless the entire order is cancelled.
3. Conditions for Returns
To be eligible for a return, items must meet all of the following conditions:
- The item is unused.
- The item is in its original packaging, undamaged and in a resalable condition.
- The return is initiated within 14 days of receipt.
- You have contacted us prior to sending the item back.
Due to hygiene and safety reasons, we are unable to accept returns on candles that have been lit or used. Items returned without prior notification, or that do not meet the above conditions, may be refused and returned to the sender at their cost.
4. How to Initiate a Return
To start a return, contact us at contact@bougiedor.com with your order number and the reason for your return. We will confirm whether your return is accepted and provide you with return instructions.
Do not send items back before receiving confirmation from us.
5. Return Shipping Costs
Unless the item is faulty, damaged, or was sent in error by us, the cost of return postage is the responsibility of the customer. We recommend using a tracked service, as we cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in transit on the way back to us.
For international returns, the customer is also responsible for any customs duties, import fees, or taxes incurred during the return shipment. These charges are non-refundable by Bougie d’Or.
6. Delivery Information
United Kingdom
- Standard Tracked Delivery: Estimated 2–4 working days — £2.95, or free on orders over £50.00. Fully tracked with Royal Mail Tracked 48.
- Express Tracked Delivery: Estimated 1–2 working days — £6.95. Priority handling and swift dispatch with Royal Mail Tracked 24.
International Delivery
- Standard Tracked Delivery: Estimated 7–12 working days — £9.99. Reliable international service with full tracking.
- Priority Tracked Delivery: Estimated 5–10 working days — £14.99. Orders are fast-tracked with priority handling, dispatched ahead of standard orders while travelling with our secure tracked service.
Duties & Taxes
UK Orders: All UK orders include VAT where applicable. No additional duties or hidden taxes will be charged at checkout or upon delivery. The price you see at checkout is the final price you pay.
International Orders: International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, or local fees upon arrival in your country. These charges are set by your local customs authority and are the responsibility of the customer. Bougie d’Or has no control over these charges and cannot predict the cost, as they vary by country. We recommend checking with your local customs office before placing your order if you are unsure.
7. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or is not what you ordered, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at contact@bougiedor.com, including:
- Your order number.
- A description of the issue.
- Clear photographs of the damage or fault.
We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no additional cost to you, including the cost of return postage where applicable.
8. Refunds
Once your return has been received and inspected, we will notify you of the outcome. If approved, your refund will be processed within 14 working days of receiving the returned item to your original payment method.
We reserve the right to refuse a refund if returned items show signs of use, damage caused after delivery, or do not otherwise meet our return conditions.
Original delivery charges are non-refundable except in cases where the item was faulty, damaged, or sent in error.
9. International Orders
For orders shipped outside the United Kingdom, the same return conditions apply. However, please note:
- International customers are responsible for all return shipping costs, including any customs duties or import taxes applied during transit.
- Bougie d’Or does not refund customs duties or import taxes paid on the original shipment.
- Return shipping times from international locations may vary. We recommend using a tracked and insured service.
10. Exchanges
We do not offer direct exchanges at this time. If you would like a different item, please return your original purchase (where eligible) and place a new order.
11. Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned or refunded under any circumstances:
- Candles that have been lit or used.
- Items returned after the 14-day return window.
- Items not in their original condition or packaging.
- Items returned without prior authorisation from us.
12. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If they are not, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. For more information, visit Citizens Advice.
